Ask questions of a pile of research papers
ML researcher, applied AI engineer, finder of very small things.
Electronics student: B.Tech in ECE at Jabalpur Engineering College. Signals, circuits, and my first real taste of image processing.
ISRO intern: Six months at the Space Applications Centre in Ahmedabad, turning airborne LiDAR scans of forests into individual trees.
Researcher: M.Tech in Signal & Image Processing at NIT Rourkela. Designed four lightweight networks that find people who are only a few pixels wide in aerial thermal images. 7 papers came out of it.
Engineer: Building applied AI systems at Ascendion in Bengaluru, and writing things down as I go.
Also: reads about cosmology and spacetime for fun, asks too many โbut why does it work?โ questions, occasional photographer.
What I spend most of my thinking time on. Plain-language summaries included.
Most of my M.Tech. A person seen from a drone in thermal infrared can be a blob of a few pixels. I designed lightweight detectors that still find them, cheaply enough to run on the drone itself.
Collaborations on detecting ships in optical remote sensing images, where waves, haze and clouds make everything harder.
At ISRO, I turned airborne LiDAR point clouds of dense forest into individual tree crowns using a region-growing algorithm, then checked the results against ground truth.
Things I've built outside of papers.
